Laying Down Roots or Uprooting?

It’s was my birthday recently. I’m honestly not much of a celebration person in general. But I do enjoy and celebrate the fact that I’ve been able to live comfortably, afford a lifestyle and build my business over the past few years. I am excited to lay roots in new places. To travel, to see the world. To be a part of an ever growing common thread of people who latched onto the entrepreneurial spirit and have done away with the typical and replaced with something enjoyable and rewarding, while getting paid to do it.

With that said, I am a decided documentarian. I shoot photos to document the world around me. I find myself more and more thinking of my photography work as that rather than say a fine art sort of thing. I appreciate the fine art aspects, and I utilize them, however my goal in life - as of now, and this could change as time goes - is to make sure we remember the world as we live now, the smiles, the sadness, the nature that speaks without speaking. To remember the good times we had. To be reminded that despite all the shit we’ve gone through in the last year and a half and continuing with the pandemic isn’t all for naught. There are gems hidden in the rough. As a documentarian, I also choose to respect that those things are present too, and we must take acknowledgment of that. We must not take for granted how far we’ve come as a society, how far we’ve yet to go. Like the physical environment that has changed, and continues to change, our mental and work environments have changed. So much change in so little time. Humans are creatures of habit, and by becoming a decided documentarian we can see how change affects us as time passes and things are forgotten.

Nothing in nature is wasted or wasteful everything has a purpose.

My journey started this week with Stacey Burkehart of SAGE who was putting up pennants for a project she did revolving around Tele-stories for the Timeslips organization at the Neville Public Museum in Green Bay, WI.

Continued then by Mile of Music Aug 5-8 in Appleton, WI. I’ll be shooting my favorite thing in the world to shoot, music and events!

If you’d like to work together please feel free to contact me up and we can make it happen!
